The principle of resurrection means the other world as one of the principles of Islam is accepted by all sects of Islam, but there are differences among some denominations in some details of the resurrection. Among them, Ash’arites as the largest and most effective theological denomination among Sunnis and Twelver Shiites as the most important denomination among Shiites, have expressed the most in this regard. In the present study, with a comparative approach, we seek to examine the commonalities and differences of these two influential schools among Muslims and show that in this matter, there are many commonalities between these schools. The most important issues that we have addressed in this thesis are: the truth of man, the nature of death, the world of purgatory, the quality of resurrection, the nature of the amount and the book, the creation of heaven and hell and intercession in all these issues.
Most Shiite and Ash’arite theologians have considered the truth of man as an abstract soul and based on it, have interpreted the next worlds. Many theologians, both Shiites and Ash’arites, have proved the immortality and desire for perfection of the soul by referring to the verses of the Holy Qur’an, and consider this ability as one of the most important features of the soul. Next have considered. In this treatise, we have come to the conclusion that most of the reasons for proving the resurrection in both denominations are narrated, and in cases such as proving the abstraction of the soul and the two-dimensionality of man, rational reasons have also been used. The commonalities of the Ash’arites and the Shiites in the fields of physical and spiritual resurrection, the difference between the death of a believer and an infidel, the truth of the measure, the truth of reckoning and the book of intercession are the most important achievements of this research that bring the two denominations closer.
