One of the most fundamental issues in the history of thought is philosophy of creation. The question of “philosophy of creation” typically is in the area of act of God, not God himself, it means what goal, world is pursuing and for what it is created. However, these questions can be raised in the area subject that means creating God. Philosophy of creation is used about human that is and sometimes about the whole world. Philosophy of creation can be studied in the area of philosophy, theology and mysticism and can be taken a look from the perspective of psychology, sociology, ethics and philosophy of religion.
But this paper attempts to offer a comparative study of philosophy of creation on al-Farabi and Tabatabai’s viewpoints. These questions are answered in these two philosophers’ works. Answering these are very important because it satisfies truth seeking desire of man, and on the other hand, determines the method of his life and it includes issues that accepting and rejecting it, will change people’s worldview.
According to conclusions of this thesis, the purpose of God in creating is to bring benefit to others not to express his creativity and take benefit.
