The issue of jihad as a struggle for religion is one of the basic and undeniable obligations of Muslims and there is no doubt about it, and it is especially emphasized by the supporters of political Islam (both Shiites and Sunnis). There are different ideas and theories among Muslims about jihad. In this article, descriptive-analytical method and using library sources, a comparative study of jihad and its territory from the perspective of Salafis and Imams. The achievements of the present article are: Jihad in Imami jurisprudence has two views, some believe in the originality of jihad, that is, the basic principle is jihad, and others put the basic principle on peace. Another achievement is that in contrast to the Imams, there is a Salafi jihadist sect that has groups such as al-Qaeda, ISIS, and Al-Nusra in Syria, all of which are subdivisions of al-Qaeda and Wahhabism. Opponents have risen, such as the revival of the caliphate, albeit by force and domination, which is in conflict with Islamic ideological principles. It is a conflict. Their other thinking is that they prefer jihad over all the practical principles and sub-principles of the religion of Islam and prioritize it, which is in conflict with the superiority of the principles of the religion and some sub-principles such as prayer and so on. Therefore, this sect has ideas that are in conflict with the original principles of Islam, which can be said to be outside Islam.
