media researchers use the word representation to show performance of mass
media. That is, the media pictures the facts and the world surrounding us and has the role of mediator to perceive the truth and create most of our knowledge and perception of the world.
Furthermore the media and its owner are steeped in ideology, its limitation in technic and content prevents true reflection of outward reality. What we see through media is in fact a narration of reality which are selected according to their economic benefits and political observation; some are culled, some emphasized and some omitted and at the end all these are filtered through technical and content requirements so that it could be shown.
As one of most interesting media, Cinema has a great influence in forming the thoughts, identity and goal of its audience. Definitely Hollywood is the giant film company. It owes most of its profit not only to domestic audiences but also foreign audiences as well. The writer is going to investigate Hollywood movies; those which picture Muslims. Since their approach has changed during 20 and 21 century and because of the great amount of Hollywood movies, this research is focused on the movies produced after the event of September eleven. Among this movies, those which raised comments and was more reflected in art communities is chosen and the similar one is omitted.
The outcome of Hollywood movies makes the audience conclude that terror is a usual trend among Muslims. The most obvious trait of Muslims come to mind by watching Hollywood movies is mostly violence, stupidity, alienation, sensuality, absolute poverty or wealth by men and backwardness and oppression for women.
