The poetic image is the main pillar of Arabic poetry, where writers have been interested in it in the past, and interest in modern poetry has increased, because it is the main means of expressing the feeling and idea that the poet portrays in his poetry. ..
Through this study, the researcher used the poetic image in poetry (Shakir al-Ghazi) and the divan (purple obelisk) as a model for his research.
In this study, we have followed a combined-descriptive-analytical approach. We have made a careful study of the poetic image in Arabic literature and have clarified and extrapolated the poetic image in the purple obelisk of the Diwan.
Regarding the researcher’s results, the poet Shakir al-Ghazi was fully aware of the poetic image and how to use its elements, which made his book full of signs in describing a painful event such as the Taf incident.
