The concept of martyr, martyrdom and martyrdom in the Arabic language has a special and lofty place in the Arabic linguistic sources. Then the linguistic dictionaries are divided into three sections, the primary dictionaries, secondary dictionaries and contemporary dictionaries. The owners of secondary and contemporary linguistic dictionaries have mentioned the same meaning as well, except that some dictionaries and based on what was narrated from the Messenger, may God bless him and his family, mentioned other meanings of the martyr, such as the drowned, the drowned, the burning, the dead whose nose is dead on his way to jihad, and others. Then from the books that we can refer to to study the concept of martyr and martyrdom are the books of the strange hadith, the strange Qur’an and the vocabulary of the Holy Qur’an. Martyrdom and martyrdom throughout time had entirely two developments; A development in the time of the Messenger, may God bless him and his family, in relation to the expansion of meaning and development in the contemporary era, and that this development is not found in linguistic sources.
