Stylistic features: a semantic linguistic study in the poems of the Iraqi poet Lamia Abbas Amara, focusing on the poetry collection “If the fortune-teller would have informed me”

Stylistics is a critical linguistic approach that seeks to study the linguistic structure of the text, describe its elements, and reveal its most important features. In textual analysis, this approach is concerned with the analysis of linguistic phenomena related to the expression of aesthetics in styles and their relationship to the emotional state and artistic and literary influence through which they are perceived. The Iraqi poet Lamia Abbas is considered one of the pioneers of modern Arabic poetry, and is considered one of the pillars of contemporary poetry in Iraq. Those who contemplate her poems will find that the accuracy of the selection of linguistic elements and their good use are among the characteristics of her poems. Frequency of repetition, the style of the call, the style of questioning and the presentation of the right to delay are among the most common methods in the poet’s poetry, and these methods have multiple purposes that extend them from the context of speech. The word in the poetic language of this poet is distinguished by its departure from the usual, or the so-called linguistic pattern. The Iraqi poet has invented a new language that differs from the language of daily life, and the prevailing language of poetic life, where its meanings differed from its familiar meanings and linguistic formations, and it was also different from the ordinary, hence it was unique and poetic.
