This study has aimed to examine the sins done by tongue and ways to prevent them. This issue is mentioned in the Holy Qur’an and its concern in most cases is moral issues such as preserving the language and not sinning and the sins of the language such as lying, backbiting, gossip. These sins are the most important ones of the language and are the greatest danger for man, society and the Islamic nation, because the language is one of the most important organs and the greatest danger for man, and the ways to protect it are mentioned in the verses of the Quran. The aim of this study is to investigate sins done by tongue in the Qur’an as an important factor in refining the soul and achieving the goals of Islamic Sharia in spreading love between people, which is one of the principles and goals of the mission, and to investigate the issue of these sins and their types, and to identify the causes and ways of prevention through verses from the perspective of the Holy Qur’an and the opinions of old and new commentators. We reached conclusions including: there are sins done by tongue and their causes from the perspective of the Holy Qur’an, including: lying to God and His Messenger, backbiting, gossip , cursing and obscenity, mockery. From the point of view of the Holy Quran, the causes of the sins are: moral causes, such as cruelty, greed, envy, disbelief, ignorance, and material causes are forbidden property, oppression, corruption, and domination. The ways to forgive the sins of the tongue include repentance, the conditions of repentance, the virtues of forgiveness and charity, the virtues of charity and prayer, the importance of prayer and the conditions of its response, appeal to God and enjoining good and forbidding evil, gratitude. The method used in this study is analytical-descriptive and inductive methods.
