The subject of this study is to shed light on the social and intellectual life in Hilla, and the problem was represented in the School of Studies on the emergence and establishment of Hilla. The east is in the west and its location on the Euphrates River. It is also an important military base for defending the capital, the country, Baghdad, from the attacks of foreign invaders and anti-government tribal movements. The city of Hilla, according to cultural standards and through its history, which is close to a thousand years, is considered one of the high-end intellectual cities, as qualified scholars in various Specializations, and it seems that there are appropriate conditions for scientific and cultural activity in the present area, such as the location between Baghdad, Karbala and Najaf, and the migration of a large number of scholars of the Islamic world to it and their settlement there, and the economic development in Hilla had a role in the renaissance of the city, as it is surrounded by agricultural areas.
The approach that I followed the descriptive historical approach to reach facts and information based on the advanced historical sources is first than other sources and the chapters of the message are socially and intellectually interconnected, and it has reached several results, the most important of which are:
The social life in Hilla, despite the multiplicity of the society’s layers of Muslims, Jews and Christians, is a homogeneous society. In addition to that the research expressed the intellectual heritage of Hilla and its scientific balance, as well as the multiplicity of colors and manifestations of social life and adherence to customs and traditions. Ibn Mansour (died 501 AH / 1107 AD), and he was glorified and appreciated for his honesty.
I have found that the basics of education, scientific study, and blogging were found in Hilla before its Egyptianization. During the time of the Mazyadiyah Emirate, Hilla became the Kaaba of writers, poets and scholars because of the encouragement they received from the emirate. The environment and morals of the people of the city had a great impact on the arrival of people to it. The city of Hilla was one of the Shiite cities that It carried the doctrine of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), as the city gave birth to generations of scholars and jurists who reached the stage of ijtihad.
