The study importance stems from the fact that it discusses a contemporary Iraqi poet to identify the scope of the meanings that the poet Qassim Wail has tackled in his poetry. In the first chapter, we find that the semantic studies were the focus of scholars and researchers whether Arab or foreigners, classical or modernists. Many scholars and researchers focused on studying semantics and its theories, which turned them to write books about this science to unveil the mystery of its paths and basics. Due to the development of this science, some theories like signaling, contextual and behavioral theory appeared. The study discussed the semantic fields theory: the concept, principles, types, and historical roots for Arabs and West, semantic relationships, and basics on which this theory and its theoretical significance are built. The second chapter is entitled “Semantic Field of Nature that included plants, soil, space, animal, and water. Chapter three dealt with human beings in terms of his/her collective names, organs of the human body, and human relationships. Chapter four is dedicated to emotions and senses that included the fields of joy, pain, moral anguish, tastes, and sights. The last chapter, chapter five sheds light on spatial, temporal and nominal determinants.
