With the proliferation of satellite channels and social media، and the growing role they play in conveying news and formulating it in a manner that guides public opinion towards prominent issues of political, economic and social dimensions, the phenomenon of media misinformation has emerged as a cognitive and ethical challenge that warrants study.
The study deals with extrapolating the Qur’an verses that talk about media disinformation, and it draws on the opinions of commentators from both groups. It examines the factors that contribute to the emergence and prevalence of disinformation, such as: Psychological, ideological and cognitive factors, military control, and religious and ideological factors.
The importance of this topic lies in studying the phenomenon of misinformation through the Qur’an texts that talked about this concept and linked it to human life and the extent of the danger it poses that threaten the unity of society and endanger its civil peace.
As for what is new in the study, it is the Quranic research in extrapolating the phenomenon of misinformation, as the researcher relied heavily on the verses that deal with this concept from its various angles.
The method adopted by the study is the inductive analytical approach that analyzes the phenomenon, and deductive approach, which aims to derive Quranic treatments of the phenomenon of deception.
The research has reached several results, the most prominent of which is: The Qur’an gave an integrated conception of the phenomenon of disinformation, indicating its seriousness in terms of explaining the factors, goals and methods that it takes, and setting the appropriate means that protect and treat the individual and society from its repercussions, and that it is possible to confront media misinformation based on forgery and deception through clarification Plans based on the Holy Quran, the Sunnah, and a sound mind.
