The functional and aesthetic structure of graphic designs in Iraqi magazines and how they affect the reader

The graphic design of magazines is not just an alluring portrayal, but it’s an innovative study which it has a highly important approach. Moreover, the graphical design and its epithet refers and points out to a few of technical and vocational fields, which focuses on visually communication and how to
present it. In this regard, different methods are used to create and combine symbols, images, ideas, messages, and words as in a visual representation which is also known as typography. Perhaps the graphic designer will use techniques such as calligraphy, visual arts, and page layout to achieve and attain efficacious results, and concentrate on methods that are effective and functional in the body of a magazine design, and their aesthetic nature which will affect the reader’s comprehension. Also, to express the methodological and scientific elements of design and reveal the aesthetic elements and the impact on its reader. The aim and purpose of this research are to show the effectiveness rate of the graphical designs of Iraq magazines in attracting and absorbing readers through the identification of the functional and aesthetic structure in graphical design and in addition the page layout methods that the graphic designer follows and has in mind, as the author of this research introduced and instigated the significance of a design, the graphics on the covers of magazines, which is the principal factor in attracting the visual element in the cover designs, has been discussed. This research has examined nine Iraqi magazines with the chosen purpose’s designs, and different methods of cover design, which have been analyzed on both general and detailed basis, and by applying the descriptive approach, their forms and topics are analyzed. the researcher has analyzed the images and topics which are descriptive, and furthermore followed by recommendations. The primary and important recommendations are: the necessity and need to conduct studies and research’s that leads to a presentation of design ideas in order to improve and induce the functional structure and to be aesthetic.
