Through this study tagged “Strategic Management and its Role in the Success of Media Institutions (Al-Iraqiya Channel as a Model)”, the researcher seeks to identify the role that strategic management plays in the success of Al-Iraqiya Channel, and to know the strategic management strengths that help improve the performance of Al-Iraqiya Channel, and to know the weaknesses. In the strategic management of Al-Iraqiya channel, and identifying the available opportunities that help improve the performance of the strategic management of Al-Iraqiya channel, knowing the threats that Al-Iraqiya channel is exposed to in improving the performance of strategic management, and knowing the role of strategic management (formation, evaluation, implementation) in the success of media institutions. In this study, the researcher relied on the qualitative approach through in-depth interviews with 5 department managers in Al-Iraqiya channel and 5 media experts and specialists. Subsections The researcher reached the most important results, namely: Al-Iraqiya channel is affected by legislative and political changes, and this is what makes it one of the weaknesses that the channel faces, as it is controlled by the directions of these legislations. And that Al-Iraqiya channel uses technology in many programs, and this contributes to the success and development of the channel’s strategic management work. There is a clear strategic vision for television, radio and newspaper work, and this is one of the most important stages of implementing the strategic management of Al-Iraqiya channel. And that Al-Iraqiya channel has an accredited training institute, and these are among the tools that contribute to the formation of a successful strategic management of the media institution. The researcher also recommends the following: The researcher recommends the need to make Al-Iraqiya channel an independent institution and keep it away from legislative and political changes. The researcher recommends the need to support it financially, because it is exposed to weakness in cash flows because of its dependence on an annual budget allocated to it from the Iraqi government. The researcher recommends the need to make Al-Iraqiya channel far from the Iraqi government’s orientations and to make it transmit the image with high credibility and professionalism.
