Understanding the Qur’anic Text in the Interpretations of Al-Mizan and Al-Amthal – a Comparative Study

The reasons for revelation acquire great importance in the interpretation of the Qur’anic text because they have more in determining the meaning that the interpreter wants to stand on and reveal. Especially that the reasons for revelation are closely related to the stages of revelation of the noble Qur’anic texts, as many of these texts were revealed due to the existence of an event that necessitated this revelation, in addition to being a documentation factor for the political, social, ideological and economic events that accompanied the revelation of the noble verses. Hence, the reason for the revelation of the verse had a great role and a strong effect that the exegete uses in the process of interpretation, and there is hardly an interpretation that does not use the reasons for the revelation for the purpose of arriving at the concept that the noble verse uttered, as it reveals the meaning and purpose of it. Therefore, this study came to define the importance of the reasons for revelation, its impact and the mechanisms of its use, based on the interpretation of Al-Mizan by Allamah Al-Tabataba’i and Al-amthal by Al-Shirazi as a model for it. Through a comparison between what was stated in the two interpretations, the study aims to clarify the strengths and weaknesses in employing the reasons for the revelation, especially that the first source for it is the narrations that bear health and strength and may bear strength and weakness. Compare the position of commentators on it, positive and negative. The research plan was the first chapter on colleges and concepts, the second chapter, the reasons for revelation and its impact on understanding the Qur’anic text in the interpretation of Al-Mizan, and the third chapter, the reasons for the descent, its impact on understanding the Qur’anic text in the interpretation of the Al-amthal, and the fourth chapter, the comparison in the reasons for the revelation between the two interpretations of Al-Mizan and the Al-amthal. The study concluded that there are points of agreement in the merits of the reasons for revelation in the interpretation of the scale and the interpretation of the Al-amthal, and the presence of points of difference, perhaps the most important of which is the dependence of the owner of the balance on documenting the narrations and counting it as a secondary reference in the interpretation between the owner of the Al-amthal of the pillars from the Qur’anic meaning, and it has a direct impact on the interpretation.
