This study “Ibn Al-Diya’ Al-Makki and his method in historical writing (critical study)” is concerned with one of the priorities of academic scientific research, which is the coherent (methodology) that gives a clear and important picture of the author’s (doctrinal, constructivist, objective) direction. The importance of this study lies in revealing the method of Ibn Al-Diya’ Al-Makki and his method in narrating historical events, what sources he relied on in the codification process, and his motives in historical codification. As the main question is, what is the method of Ibn Al-Diya’ Al-Makki in historical writing? Perhaps we can clearly notice that the author was neutral in the history of the sites and their identification. As for the historical writing, he was not neutral in writing down an important part of it, especially with regard to Imam Ali bin Abi Talib (peace be upon him). About his virtues and leaving their memory, and this probably dates back to the third century AH. This author, in many sources, was characterized by eclecticism and was dominated by observance of doctrinal orientation and taste.
