This research entitled “the Hadith of Truth:  a substantive and historical research”  consists of four chapters. Considering the documents, versions consists of four chapters. Considering the documents, versions, and the explanations of this hadith (tradition), it attempts to present an interpretation of this hadith. Although the Hadith of Truth or Hadith of Komeil has not yet been found in major tradition sources, the content of this hadith has been considered by a great many Shiite scholars, especially those who have been mystically and philosophically inclined. This tradition has been widely acknowledged and interpreted by many of these scholars. Komeil ibn Nakhaei who has narrated this hadith is one of the special companions of Imam Ali (PBUH). In addition to this hadith, he has narrated many hadiths and mystical moral supplications from Imam Ali (PBUH). Adopting a descriptive-analytic approach and considering the most important resources, explanations and versions of this hadith, this research examines its five versions. This research presupposes that every version of this hadith interprets one stage of the stages of Truth not that they are five interpretations of one stage.
