It seems that Buddhism, late modernity and romanticism related historically. However there is many distance between them. In this survey we want to find some signals from influences of encountering the west to eastern religions (specifically Buddhism), current concepts in modern period and romanticism in twentieth century’s literature, then we have to read the works of a writer who have had many readers in this century. For this purpose it is necessary to explain some concepts of Buddhism, modernism, romanticism and Hermann Hesse’s life and his internal experiences. Hermann Hesse was a poet, writer, criticizer and an expert painter. We limited our survey to his top five novels, because of an accurate study of his works. These novels are: Demian, Siddhartha, Steppen Wolf, Narssis and Goldmund, The glass bead game. Hesse won the Noble prize for this late novel in 1946.
