Tavalla and Tabarra are the most basic and fundamental teachings of the Qur’an. Tavalla means, love and Tabarra means; antipathy that are the two branches of Islam, including examples in Islam. This thesis addresses the principles and provisions of this important issue being taken into consideration in Islamic sects. Therefore in addition to study of sects’ views, its principles and provisions will be discussed through descriptive and analytical method. There are different views toward it in Islamic schools of Fiqh. Given that Tavalla and Tabarra are meaningful about Ahl al-Bayt, their examples are specific to them. The principles of Tavalla and Tabarra in Imamyya’s viewpoint are rooted from the acceptance of Imamate cited in the Holy Quran and tradition. Therefore, Tavalla and Tabarra are as the main branches of the religion and its presence in Shiite jurisprudential perspective is obligatory. In Sunni’s view while some of them with certain prejudices of their great figures and do not tolerate opposition to them and while some of them have a special devotion to Ahl al-Bayt and the devotion are based on some principles, But forasmuch they do not agree with this love and hatred, thus they cannot be regarded as fundamental in their beliefs.
