Philosophers who are concerned with human societies through the history had noticeable efforts to clarify belief essence and objects of belief . they constantly tried to prevent believers from danger of devil tempting and doubts and they defend religion against enemies and questioners by providing true principles and rules. Indeed, analyzing belief which is a revelatory and nonsense affair according to philosophers’ viewpoint is so attractive and beneficial. Among philosopher who have this effort peripatetic philosophers were special and they have intellectual proof for their cognitive method.in the meantime two great peripatetic philosophers Avicenna and Thomas Aquinas who considered as greatest philosophers in Islam & Christianity through medieval period and even next periods have most impacts and efforts for the purpose insofar as they were establishers for lots of philosophy of religion issues. So they are more important than other peripatetic philosophers. Avicenna and Aquinas according to their bases about belief and it’s aspects have specific ideas . they both know belief as statement(proposition) but Avicenna knows belief as consciousness and cognition (intellectual and philosophical arguments and indirect cognitive (knowledge) ) as well. Aquinas knows belief as will and psychic quality (obvious perception, sense perception, and from prime propositions, judgments without searching ). And every one of them dealt with the subject and related issues thoroughly in their works insofar as important aspects of their philosophy and most of their efforts focused on this field. Although Avicenna generally discussed these issues by argument and rational proofs but Aquinas after paying attention to revelation applied argument as supporter and confirmer.
