Knowledge is the issue of human twin. From ancient times, man is trying to recognize himself and the world and find his relationship with another. The issue of what cognition and cognitive tools are also apparent to this concern. Since the compilation of philosophical ideas, this problem has been followed up and answered. Among the issues that arise from epistemology on the one hand and art on the other hand, is the cognition of the poem and its relation to the truth. In the intellectual tradition of Muslims, proof is the only way of knowing and another way and other ways are far from the truth. As a result, poetry, which is a non-proof method, does not find cognitive qualities and it only emphasizes its Motivational aspect. This thesis examines the issue of the truth of the poem in the light of the opinions of Muslim philosophers. So, at first, it answers the question “What is poetry?” Then asks again whether there is a relation between poetry and truth? And finaly, determines which factor of poetry turns it into the discovery of the truth? The research method is based on the questions raised, analysis, description and explanation. The first two questions are answered on the basis of the analysis and description of the views of philosophers and literary critics and the third question is based on the data obtained in response to the first and second questions. The result of the research is that:

  • Poetry is Imaginary
  • The relation of poetry to the truth is of the kind of mimes, which is itself a kind of limited knowledge and conditional.
  • Mimesis is the cause that poetry discovers truth.
