To survey the viewpoint of Islam on population and population policies is one of the most significant and necessary issues in Moslem societies. Since in demographics there are four general theories on population and population policies –including Decrease of Population, Increase of Population, Stable Population and Ideal Population- some consider the increase of population as the preliminary principle of population policies in Islamic jurisprudence and believe that the policy of Moslem population Increase is ideal by nature, since Isteelād (the demand for children) and increase of Moslem population are ideal. Therefore, they have tried to extract juristic rules and reasons to justify the policy of population Increase. But this policy encounters some challenges the most important of which are the policies of “Population Control” and “Family Regulation” as well as some economical and cultural shortcomings.
