The present study is seeking to deal with policy-making for public teaching of art in IRI with a reliance on the great heritage of Islamic philosophy and wisdom. To do so, after explaining the most important concepts of the study – i.e. art, policy making, public education, and Islamic philosophy as well as their elaboration – we have investigated the views on policy making for culture and art, approaches to and theories on teaching art in modern West as well as teaching art in Iran after the advent of modern system of education, and then in the final section of chapter 2, policy discourses have been explained in two aspects: history of teaching art in Iran and policy discourses of art in Iran. In the third chapter, first we have discussed discourse evolution for policies of public education of art in various countries to familiarize with the most important projects of teaching art in schools of the world and several important projects of teaching art in the West. The philosophical foundations of teaching art in Islamic civilization are the second section of this chapter, wherein discussions by Islamic-Iranian philosophers in explaining philosophy-centered artifice and necessities of philosophical education of art are put forward. In the fourth chapter, both the basic and systemic turning points of philosophical education of art and drawbacks in educational policy-making as well as content and process challenges of public education of art in Iran have been reviewed. The final part of this treatise is an explanation of 23 policies in 5 packs of policies pertaining to managerial and strategic sphere, policies pertaining to providing human resources, policies pertaining to curriculum, policies pertaining to financial resources and facilities as well as policies pertaining to research and development and three separate suggested projects.
