The first Mughal attack on the Greater Iran took place in 616 A.H. the Mughals retained their presence in Iran , some parts of Arab Iraq ,Asia Minor , Armenia and Azerbaijan until the fall of the Abbasid caliphate in 656 A.H. During this period of time there was no alliance between the Caliphs and the Sultans or the Sultans with each other . The surrender of the lands which were under the direct rule of the Caliphs , to the ambitious Sultans in exchange for money, and consequently , limiting the rule of the Caliphs in Mesopotamia from Khaneqin to Basra, and also lack of control over that small area of the country as well , damaged the Abbasid caliphate seriously . The spread of different corruptions, from gambling and drinking to sexual corruption among the Caliph and his men was another reason to weaken the caliphate organization from inside and so vulnerable to defeat . When the caliphate encountered the strong attack of the Mughals while making conquests around the world, had no destiny but falling . After decades, lack of information or lack of attention to these two important facts : Mughal’s conquering decisions and that the Abbasid Caliph had lost the necessary authority within centuries, made Ibn Taymiyah and his followers unable to have a proper analysis about the falling of Abbasid caliphate. He couldn’t make his analysis based on valid information from the historians present at or near the happening ( of the Abbasid caliphate falling ), but managed to announce his assumptions and pessimistic ideas , as certain news by the help of his followers . Since he regards the Shiites as naturally betrayer to Islam, he has issued accusations against the scholars and the leaders of this sect such as Khaje Nasir al-Din Tusi to overthrow the Abbasid caliphate . He addresses him as a person who didn’t pray , drank wine , committed adultery and worshiped idols. These accusations aroused the disagreement of some pious Sunni scholars and reveals the amount of Ibn Taymiyah’s knowledge and information about this issue . In this thesis, the most basic causes of the fall of the Abbasid caliphate is revealed through accurate studies, and the baseless accusations against the Shiites is investigated and it is made clear that the resistance grounds had been ruled out since 616 A.H. and the Shiites’ cooperation or lack of cooperation with The Mughals had no effect on the extinction of the Abbasid Caliphate .
