Specialized education is offered in Arabic language and literature. Those interested in studying Arabic Language and Literature must have a related master&#8217;s degree. Students with unrelated prior education are required to pass the prerequisites according to the regulations.<\/p>\n<p>All resources of Islamic sciences and religious scriptures are in Arabic. It is not possible to obtain different dimensions of Islamic culture and religious knowledge except through specialized understanding of this language. On the other hand, the most important means of transmitting different aspects of Islamic culture is through written works, which are often in Arabic. Therefore, in order to communicate and interact between Islamic cultures and nations, it is necessary to train high-level experts for this purpose.<\/p>\n<p>The graduates of this program can teach at academic and research institutes in addition to translation and propagation of Islam. They can be actively involved in responding to religious doubts in the Islamic world. Also, they will be able to play an important role in the flourishing of Islamic sciences and will contribute to the growth and development of related sciences such as jurisprudence, Quranic exegesis, theology, and philosophy.<\/p>\n<p>Holding a master\u2019s degree or an equivalent is sufficient for enrollment in this program. The previous degree of the applicant must be verified by the consulate of Iran in the issuing country. Also, matching the applicants\u2019 previous field of study with the current program is not necessary. Upon establishing the applicants\u2019 scholarly competency and the committee\u2019s agreement, the applicants are eligible to study in this program regardless of their previous field of study. Previous publications including books, research papers, and journal articles can positively influence the committee\u2019s judgment.<\/p>\n<p>The PhD program in \u201cArabic Literature\u201d lasts for 4 years i.e., 8 academic semesters. The semesters are scheduled as follows: 4 semesters for the coursework, 1 semester for the comprehensive examination, and the last 3 semesters are dedicated to writing the thesis. The students pass the prerequisites during the first semester, followed by the core and elective courses during the upcoming semesters.<\/p>\n<p>The PhD program in \u201cArabic Literature\u201d includes 58 credits that include 22 credits in core subjects, 6 credits in prerequisites, and 18 credits for the thesis. Some of the core courses are as follows: \u201cJurisprudence\u201d, \u201cPrinciples of Islamic jurisprudence\u201d, \u201cModern poetry and prose\u201d, \u201cPoetry and prose in the early Islamic era\u201d, \u201cPoetry and prose in the Abbasid and the interregnum\u201d, \u201cHistorical development of literary criticism\u201d, \u201cMorphological analysis\u201d, \u201cSyntactic Analysis\u201d, and \u201cRhetorical analysis\u201d.
