Joint Meeting between Iranian and Turkish Scholars

In a visit to Turkey, Hojjat-ol-Eslam-val-Moslemin Seyyed Abolhasan Navvab attended a joint meeting between Iranian and Turkish scholars.

Hojjat-ol-Eslam-val-Moslemin Seyyed Abolhasan Navvab went to Turkey, where he attended a joint meeting between Iranian and Turkish scholars—Intentional Relations of the University of Religions and Denominations reports.

Hojjat-ol-Eslam-val-Moslemin Seyyed Abolhasan Navvab, the Head of the University of Religions and Denominations, gave a four-day visit to Turkey on behalf of Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, accompanied by a number of Iranian scholars. He had a meeting with Ali Erbaş, the president of the Directorate of Religious Affairs of Turkey, and attended the inauguration ceremony of the Specialized Exhibition of Iranian Quranic Products in Ahmet Hamdi Akseki Mosque in Ankara.

As part of the visit, the Head of the University of Religions and Denominations attended a joined meeting between Iranian and Turkish scholars, where he gave a speech.

In his speech in the meeting of Iranian and Turkish scholars, he pointed out cultural and religious capacities of Turkey. “Given its potentials, Turkey can stand out in the Islamic world more than before. The country has a capacity to play a more effective role in Islam,” he said.

He pointed out that today the need of the world community as well as Muslims is the development of rational and moderate Islam, calling for interactions between scholars of the two countries in order to accelerate religious collaborations.

“We have common tastes, and the future world is a world of art. Thus, we need to deploy artistic capacities of both countries,” Hojjat-ol-Eslam-val-Moslemin Seyyed Abolhasan Navvab said.

It is notable that in this visit a memo of understanding was signed in the presence of Abouzar Ebrahimi Torkaman, the Head of Islamic Culture and Relations Organization and Ali Erbaş, the president of the Directorate of Religious Affairs of Turkey.

The goals of this memo include the establishment of a scholarly committee between the two countries, continued scholarly and religious cooperation in scientific, educational, and academic matters, cooperation about hajj, religious publications, scholarly and artistic activities concerning the Quran, Quranic exhibitions, Quranic studies and the cyberspace, cooperation about the advancement of Islamic unity, countering Islamophobia, religious convergence, annual meetings of the committee of the two countries as administered by the Center of Islamic Seminaries of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

At the close of his visit, Hojjat-ol-Eslam-val-Moslemin Seyyed Abolhasan Navvab, the Head of the University of Religions and Denominations, gave a visit to Haci Bektas University in Nevşehir on Saturday, where he met with the head of the university and signed a memo of cooperation.

It should be noted that the Directorate of Religious Affairs is the only religious authority in Turkey, which is in charge of religious guidance in Turkey and administration of its mosques, as well as administration of religious scholars and Turkish Imams of Friday Prayers and congregational prayers throughout the world, and its president is appointed by the Turkish President.
